Road Weather Alert for Tasmania
for Western and Central Plateau forecast districts

Issued at 10:17am on Sunday 2 November 2014.

Snow covered roads above 400 metres will make driving conditions dangerous during Sunday in parts of the Western and Central Plateau forecast districts.

For information on any road closures, please contact your local council or the Police.

The next alert will be issued by 5pm Sunday.

Warning to Sheep Graziers
for the East Coast, Midlands, Upper Derwent Valley, South East, Furneaux Islands and North West Coast forecast districts

Issued at 10:17am on Sunday 2 November 2014.

Sheep Graziers are warned that cold temperatures, showers and strong southwesterly winds are expected during Sunday. Areas likely to be affected include the Upper Derwent Valley forecast district and parts of the Midlands, South East, Furneaux Islands, North West Coast and East Coast forecast districts. There is a high risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

The warning to sheep graziers for the Central North and North East forecast districts and parts of the King Island forecast district has been cancelled.

The next warning will be issued by 5pm Sunday.

Bush Walkers Weather Alert
for the Western and Central Plateau forecast districts

Issued at 10:17 am EDT on Sunday 2 November 2014.

Bush walkers are advised that snow as low as 500 metres is expected during Sunday, although conditions will improve during the day. These hazardous conditions are expected to occur in parts of the Western and Central Plateau forecast districts.

The next warning will be issued by 5pm Sunday.

Small Craft Alert for the following areas:
Central Plateau Lakes and South West Lakes

Police seek witnesses to fatal accident

POLICE would like to anyone who witnessed last night's fatal car crash on Boyer Rd or saw the car before the incident which occurred on the New Norfolk side of the Boyer Rd railway underpass.

Tasmania Police say a four-year-old New Norfolk girl died as the result of the single vehicle crash on Boyer Road, Boyer, just after 6pm last night.

Police say a white Mitsubishi Magna sedan was being driven along Boyer Rd towards Bridgewater by a 33-year-old New Norfolk woman. The car overturned after failing to negotiate a left-hand curve.

A young girl died at the scene and four teenage passengers were taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital for observation.

Police crash investigator Constable Adam Hall would like to hear from any member of the public who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicle prior to the incident.  Anyone with information can contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Fatal crash near Boyer

TASMANIA Police advise that Boyer Rd is closed near Norske Skog Boyer due to a fatal motor vehicle crash. The road is closed to all traffic until further notice.

THE Mercury reports that a serious motor vehicle crash near Boyer has closed Boyer Rd to all traffic. Police say the road may be closed at least until late evening.

Police seek witnesses to Willow Court fire

Structure Fire Willow Court New Norfolk

Around 7.30pm on Thursday, October 30, 2014, Tasmania Police and the Tasmania Fire Service were called to attend a structure fire at an unused building at Willow Court situated on The Avenue at New Norfolk. The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

The fire was extinguished by the Tasmanian Fire Service and the cost of the damage is negligible.

Police would like to speak to anyone that may have been in the area of George Street or The Avenue at New Norfolk between 6.30pm and 7.30pm on October 40, 2014, and noticed anyone acting suspiciously.

Information can be reported anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or by contacting Bridgewater CIB on 6268 4106.

Speedway's on tonight

4PM UPDATE: Cancelled due to rain

THERE'S nothing on their roadsign and their website is a bit confused about what date it is, but the southern speedway season starts this afternoon at the Mountain Dew Raceway at Sorell Creek near New Norfolk.

The program looks to include Super Sedans, AMCA, Bombers, Formula 500s, Juniors, Modifieds and Karts, with the gates opening at 3pm and heats on the inside track starting at 4pm and the main track at 6pm. Admission is $25 for adults, $22 concession, students $10 and children under 12 are free.
