New bridge on Molesworth Rd

A SOLID new bridge now spans the Sorell Creek at Molesworth, just along from the local primary school where Douglas Rd meets Molesworth Rd. The previous timber bridge was replaced last week, with the concrete replacement said to be on a better alignment.

  1. I do agree it is a great new bridge but what a shame they didn't replace it over summer when school wasn't in - instead they manage to start it the week before school goes back - good planning! And on the subject of bridges, when is the bridge at Humphrey St going to be replaced/altered? There is no safe way of crossing the bridge, the pitiful concrete step/path isn't wide enough & when standing up there the railing doesn't meet standard safety heights. And if you are walking with a pram or stroller the only option is to walk on the road. Given there is a walking track either side of this bridge I think it's about time that it was made safe for pedestrians to use. My kids walk home across there every afternoon & claim they actually feel safer walking on the road in the gutter than up on the path. Its an accident waiting to happen.
