One councillor may go

THE Local Government Board has proposed reducing the number of Derwent Valley councillors from nine to eight at the next election. The community has been invited to comment on the proposal before December 5. Read more at the Mercury newspaper website.

    Surely reduction by 2 would've been better? Did the Council itself recommend this? If so, what was its reasoning?

    I reckon get rid of the lot of them and amalgamate the councils in this state down to 3 at the most - then we might save some money and put it into where it is best spent.
