YOUTH Week activities will once again be offered in the local area following news that the Derwent Valley Youth Future Action Team (D’FAT) has been successful in obtaining Youth Week Tasmania 2020 grant funding from the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
D’FAT facilitator Matt Hill said this funding would greatly assist D’FAT with the staging of activities for young people, children and their families in the Derwent Valley during Youth Week from April 1-8, including popular activities such an outdoor movie night and robotics and programming sessions.
D’FAT chairman Nic Kaiser said the group had begun planning Youth Week activities at its annual evaluation and planning camp held last month. It has been organising Youth Week activities for the Derwent Valley for many years.
Youth Week is a government initiative to celebrate the efforts and contributions of young people aged 12 to 25 in their communities, and an opportunity to express their ideas, act on issues and create and enjoy activities and events.
