It was a big match at Boyer on Saturday as New Norfolk and Hobart fought it out in the Heritage Round's Trevor Leo Cup. It was a close match, but the Tigers held on in the second half of the game to secure a win against New Norfolk.
In the first quarter of the game the Eagles were struggling to find their footing as Hobart took the lead. By the end of the quarter the Eagles faced a 10-point deficit but it was only early in the game. Well into the second quarter the Eagles were showing the power behind the home ground advantage and fighting hard to bring their score back up and overtake the Tigers. By the half-time siren they were up on points.
After half time the pressure was on for both teams, but the Tigers came back stronger and the Eagles just couldn’t keep up. By the end of the third quarter the Tigers sat on 9.9 (63) compared to New Norfolk’s 6.12 (48).
But the Eagles weren’t giving up that easy. The heat was back in the final quarter, but with under 10 minutes left the Tigers took control of the game and ended up finishing with a 10-point lead.
Luke Sullivan led the Tigers with three goals, while Sam Reeves, Mark Nichols and Bryden Goninon all scored two each. For the Eagles, Nic Clayton finished with three goals, while Michael Thompson kicked two.
Hobart defeated the Eagles in the Reserves in a close game with only a 3-point margin by the final siren. In the Under 18s the Eagles managed a win over Hobart by 42 points.

A slow start to the first quarter cost the Sharks the game this game as the Magpies had them playing catch up football right from the start. In the Colts match, Dodges Ferry came from behind win over the Magpies, while in the Reserves, Dodges Ferry had to forfeit to Claremont.

The Two Blues remain undefeated after 17 rounds of the 2016 season after a comfortable win over Sorell. In the Under 18s the Two Blues suffered a devastating 101-point loss to Southern Storm in the variation fixture, while in the Reserves Lindisfarne defeated Sorell with a massive 106-point win.
Brighton 10.5 (65) d Huonville 8.7 (55)
After the first three quarters of the game were led by the Lions, Brighton sneaked back into the contest in the final quarter to secure a 10-point win. In the Reserves, the Lions led the match up until the final quarter where the Robins took control of the game and came out with a 7-point win and in the Colts Brighton defeated Huonville by forfeit.
