One way ahead for patchwork corner

Roadworks at the end of Stephen St, New Norfolk.
THE most notorious section of road in central New Norfolk is now part-way through a major redevelopment.

The corner of Stephen and Charles streets is one of the town's oldest sections of road. Well overdue for an upgrade, the road surface has for many years been a patchwork of pothole repairs, one on top of the other.

The $280,000 project will see the corner of Stephen and Charles streets converted to one-way traffic.

Work started in the last week of February and includes the construction of new kerb, channel and footpaths, as well as reconstruction of the road surface and conversion from two-way traffic to one-way only, from the direction of Charles St to Stephen St.
