POLICE are seeking witnesses to a tragic event at the Millbrook Rise boat ramp at New Norfolk yesterday afternoon.
At about 4.30pm yesterday, emergency services responded to a report of Toyota hatchback being on fire at the boat ramp.
"Once the fire was extinguished, a deceased person was located in the vehicle," Detective Constable Ian Crowther of Tasmania Police said this afternoon.
"Forensic officers and investigators have been in attendance since the fire was extinguished, and have commenced a coronial investigation. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death," Constable Crowther said. "Investigations are continuing and forensic results are pending. A report will be prepared for the coroner."
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the vehicle fire, particularly those who may have dash camera or video footage.
