FIRST GRADE: New Norfolk I went down easily to St Anne's by eight wickets in the match played at Cadbury No.1 oval. Batting first, the Red Caps lost regular wickets and finished 10/95 off 19.5 overs. Batting at number nine, Jason Rigby top-scored with 26 from 22 deliveries. While at eight, Jordan Banks-Smith made 22 from 24. Openers Seb Wishart and Sam Hoggett both made 12 from 16. In reply, the Crows chased down the target with ease, finishing 2/97 off 10.5 overs. Jordan Banks-Smith took 1-9 off 2 overs and Seb Wishart 1-16 off 2.5.

SECOND GRADE: In a close encounter at Gretna, the home team made it two from two, when it defeated New Norfolk II by four runs. Needing six from the final ball to win, the Red Caps got a single, finishing 6/131 off 19 overs. Earlier, Gretna I had made 3/140 off its 20 overs, but with a short rain delay and using the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method, its total was reduced to 135 from 19 overs. Opener Aaron Maddox was the standout belting 79 not out from 55 balls. Playing in his 150th match for Gretna I, Maddox clubbed 4 fours and 6 sixes sharing a stand of 67 with Peter Jelkic who made 26 from 31 (two fours). Opener Ben Rainbird made 18 from 16 (three fours). Best of the New Norfolk bowlers was David Mitchelmore with 1-18 from 4. With the bat for New Norfolk, it was opener Rohan “Paddles” Heron who hit the top score of 55 from 46. In a good display, Heron hit 5 fours and two sixes. Captain Jake King made 41 from 40 deliveries (4 fours, 1 six) and the opening pair shared a terrific 97-run stand. Richard Graham made 13 from 11. With the ball for Gretna, it was the star of the day, Aaron Maddox, who finished with great figures of 3-18 off his four overs. Earlier, Ben Rainbird with a direct hit effected a great run out that got things going.

In the match at Sandford, Molesworth I went down easily to Richmond/Cambridge by 86 runs. The Lions had first hit making 8/119 from their 20 overs and in reply Molesworth was bundled out for 33 from 14.3 overs. Batting at number 10, Jamie Bowerman made 8 from 13 while opener Daniel Coppleman also made 8 (7). There were four ducks. With the ball, Brad Coppleman did well taking 3-37 from his four overs as did Jamie Bowerman with 2-16 (4) and Kye Tomkinson 2-23 (4). Brayden Hodge too 1-26 (4).

FOURTH GRADE: In a close one at Abbotsfield Park, Bothwell I made it two wins in as many weeks when it defeated Claremont by seven runs. Batting first, the Bucks finished 10/90 from 16.2 overs. Top scorers were the opening pair Simon Eyles with 31 from 32 deliveries and Nathan Eyles 10 (8). In reply, the Magpies fell just short, being dismissed for 83 from 18.5 overs. Opening bowler Brock Nichols was on song, finishing with the excellent figures of 3-11 from 3.5 overs. He was well supported by Josh Eyles who also did well with 2-12 from 3 overs (one maiden) as did Matthew Eyles taking 2-17 (4) and captain Cody Eyles 1-15 (4).

FIFTH GRADE: After the big win in Round 1, Gretna II stayed on the winners list when it defeated New Norfolk III by 31 runs on Saturday. In a reduced match due to a couple rain delays, Gretna hit up 7/114 from its 16 overs. Captain Ross Langford made a valuable 39 from 35 balls (4 fours). Josh Whitford had a good cameo making 30 from 22 which include 4 fours, and opener Mathew Burns made a quickfire 19 from 11, hitting 3 fours and 1 six. Of the New Norfolk bowlers, Cody Morgan-Coleman did well taking 3-31 (4) as did Liam Kalbfell with 2-26 (4). In reply, New Norfolk starting one batsman short, finished 8/83 from its 16 overs. Young Luke Jarvis showed he is a player of the future putting together a well-made 41 from 39 deliveries. The composed Jarvis showed great fight hitting 5 well-timed boundaries. Jye Bearman made 15 from 19 and Cody Morgan-Coleman 12 from 19. With the ball for Gretna it was a great day out for Ross Langford who after batting well took 3-20 (4) in a great game. Mathew Burns also had a good day taking 2-17 from his 4 overs, while Josh Whitford was extremely tidy with 1-9 (4). Andrew McKenzie chimed in with 1-7 (1). During the innings, Jake Campbell effected a great direct-hit run out that really got the Gretna team up and about. During the New Norfolk innings, captain Aaron Triffitt played a nice shot through the covers, but injured his knee in the process and had to retire. Let’s hope it’s not too serious for the keen cricketer and he can get back to playing ASAP.

During the match it was a special moment for the Eiszele family with club stalwart Adrian and his 15-year-old son Tom playing in their first match together. The Eiszele name has had a huge connection with the New Norfolk Cricket Club and its great to see this tradition continuing, well done guys.

SEVENTH GRADE: After its Round 1 loss, Bothwell I got onto the winners list when it defeated Wellington by 49 runs at Collinsvale Oval. In a reduced match of 10 overs per side, the Bucks had first knock and really stacked on the runs. After being 1-13, they never looked back and finished 1/117 of their 10 overs. First drop Ashley Browning joined opener Mark Pearce and the pair went on a run spree piling on a 104-run partnership. Pearce who had his eye in from the word go, smacked 60 not out from just 28 balls. During his 59 minute stay at the crease he belted 7 fours and 3 sixes. Not to be outdone, Browning hit 48no from 29 balls, hitting 3 fours and 3 sixes in what was also a great innings. In reply Wellington finished 6/68 from the 10 overs. With the ball for the Bucks it was opening bowler Jorden Conley who sent down four overs to capture 4-20 in a great spell of bowling. Nathan White took 1-38 (4) and captain Peter Hansch took 1-1 (1).

St Virgil’s defeated Molesworth II by 60 runs at St Virgil’s College. In a reduced 16-over match, the home side had first hit making the good score of 3/135. In reply, Molesworth from its 16 overs finished 6/75. Opener John Fowle top-scored with 32 from 33 balls. Fowle didn’t muck around, hitting 5 fours and one six. Craig Veron was next best scorer with 10 not out from 17 deliveries. Earlier with the ball, John Fowle again got in the action with 1-16 (3). Larry Menzie 1-17 (3) and Daniel Williams 1-35 (4).
