Massive boost for science students

SCIENCE students at New Norfolk High School will benefit from nearly $2 million from the Science and Language Centres for 21st Century Schools (SLC) component of the Federal Government's education revolution. Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Education Minister Julia Gillard last week announced that 537 high school science laboratories and language learning centres would be built or refurbished under the first stage of the SLC program.

New Norfolk High School will receive $1.9 million for a new science centre. A total of $810 million in funding would provide Australian high schools with access to modern facilities with leading edge technologies in their own learning spaces, Ms Gillard said. Construction would start soon, providing immediate support for jobs.
