THE Eagles continued their excellent start to the 2013 season at the weekend, staying on the winners list with bags of goals to Brett Booth (5) and Michael Thompson (4) contributing significantly to the result. It was the accuracy of the Eagles that made the difference and the Derwent Valley team now stays atop the ladder with a handy percentage after Round 7.

After a tight first three quarters, New Norfolk opened the floodgates in a final quarter which added five goals to their score while holding Huonville goalless. In the end an eight goal to four second-half made the difference as the Eagles took over with Booth and Sam Hall being the best players on the day.

Huonville showed bursts of good play but still need to deliver four quarters to see them gain a big scalp this season. For Huonville, James Lange was the standout player and Darren Garth again led the way on the scoreboard with seven goals.

In the Reserves game earlier in the day New Norfolk had a massive victory by 138 points and also took out the Colts match by 43 points for a clean sweep.
