Spill closes Rocks Rd

POLICE say Rocks Rd/Boyer Rd is likely to be closed for up to another two hours while emergency services attend to a chemical spill on the road between New Norfolk and the waterskiing club.

The incident was first reported at12.05pm when the New Norfolk Fire Brigade dispatched several crews to assess the situation. The fire service says the unnamed chemical leaked from a container as it was being transported. An exclusion zone is in place and there is no threat to the community.

Motorists and members of the public should avoid the area and refer to the Tasmania Police website and Facebook page for information on road closures.
