Weather bureau gives the all-clear

THE raft of overnight weather warnings for the Derwent Valley and other parts of Tasmania ohave been cancelled or downgraded by the Bureau of Meteorology this morning.

The bureau says severe weather is no longer occurring in Tasmania. "The immediate threat of severe weather has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary," a spokesman said.

The severe weather warning for winds and heavy rain has been cancelled statewide, while the road weather alert and sheep graziers warning no longer apply to the Derwent Valley.

A final flood warning has been issued for the Derwent catchment. River rises are occurring at some locations but flooding is no longer expected in the Clyde and Ouse Rivers and in the Lower Derwent.

In the 24 hours to 9am today (Saturday), widespread rainfall totals of 5-35mm were recorded in the Derwent catchment with isolated higher totals up to 50 mm. Additional rainfall totals of 5-20mm are forecast for the remainder of today.

Flood Warning Number: 1

River rises are occurring at some locations but flooding is no longer expected in the Clyde and Ouse Rivers and in the Lower Derwent during Saturday.

In the 24 hours to 9 am Saturday, widespread rainfall totals of 5-35 mm were recorded in the Derwent catchment with isolated higher totals up to 50 mm.

Additional rainfall totals of 5-20 mm are forecast for the remainder of Saturday.

River Derwent above River Ouse:

Flooding is not expected in the River Derwent above River Ouse.

River Ouse:

Flooding is no longer expected in the River Ouse.

The River Ouse at Ashton is currently at 0.54 metres and steady. Additional rises are expected during Saturday but the River Ouse at Ashton is expected to remain below the minor flood level (2.40 m).

Additional rises are expected during Saturday but the River Ouse at Ouse is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.00 m).

River Clyde:

Flooding is no longer expected in the River Clyde.

The River Clyde at Bothwell is currently at 0.07 metres and steady. Additional rises are expected during Saturday but the River Clyde at Bothwell is expected to remain below the minor flood level (2.00 m).

River rises are possible over the weekend but the River Clyde at Hamilton is expected to remain below the minor flood level (2.40 m).

River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:

Flooding is no longer expected along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam.

The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is currently at 2.11 metres and steady. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.10 m) over the weekend.
