Duelling Banjo's
BANJO'S Bakery now has a choice of locations for its new premises in New Norfolk. The Derwent Valley Council has issued a second permit to the bakery chain, this time covering the former Retravision premises at 20 High St. Earlier this month it was announced that a permit had been issued for a bakery in a former supermarket at 38 High St. Both are prime sites in New Norfolk's central business district.
In other business news, renovations are being carried out in the recently-closed Country Florals Florist at 33 High St. It is understood that this will be home to two small businesses, offering giftware and electrical goods.

Under 12 Red won 2-0 against Dominic. Ryan Browning scored both goals.
Under 12 Black had a 2-all draw with Derwent.
Under 9 won 3-2 against Brighton.
Under 8 lost 4-1 to Holy Rosary Blue. Ostyn Wilton was the goal scorer.

Under 7 Black won 4-1 against Brighton with all players having a good game. Bree Browning kicked two goals.

Junior season nears its end
UPDATE: The Under 8 game is now at Tynwald at 9.30am on Sunday
THIS week will see the last games of the season for the Under 8, 9 and 10 footballers so if you are wanting to see the future stars of tomorrow, check where they play and support these young Eagles this weekend. One game of interest will be the two Under 8 teams in a clash at Tynwald Park this Friday under lights at 5.30pm. It's sure to be a great display of junior footy.

New Norfolk v Brighton
NEW Norfolk continued its dominance of the competition and over neighbour Brighton when they thrashed them by 113 points last Saturday, 24.17 (161) to 7.6 (48). The Eagles started strongly and dominated around the stoppages and had too much strength and class for the opposition as they cruised to a handy 24-point lead a the first change. The visitors battled hard but could not match their more fancied rivals. The second term was a similar affair as New Norfolk’s defence was super, keeping Brighton to only four goals. The game was practically over at half-time as the home side led by 44 points.
The Eagles continued their hunger for big wins, slamming on another 13 goals to race away to a percentage-boosting win, leaving Brighton to regroup for this weekend's important clash at home. Best players for the Eagles were plenty with Wardlaw, Horne, Belcher and Clayton outstanding whilst key forward Thompson moves in on the ton, kicking a lazy seven to move to 78 goals with five rounds to play. Better players for the struggling Robins were Willing, Delaney, Boucher and Hope as they remain two points out of the top six.
Huonville v Claremont
HUONVILLE are back in form and making a late bid to play finals football after they recorded easily their best win of the season and moved to eighth spot on the ladder after defeating finals-bound Claremont by 64 points, 19.9 (123) to 10.19 (79). The first term was a high-scoring and even affair as both sides seemed to find plenty of space but the home side was more inaccurate kicking for goal. Huonville grabbed a vital 14-point lead over the unlucky Magpies. The second term was a similar affair with the Magpies missing easy opportunities and every time the Lions went forward they scored a goal. They had fewer scoring shots but increased their lead to 20 points and an upset loomed as the visitors were very frustrated.
The third term was an even affair but Claremont threw everything at the Lions who held firm and then kicked away in the last term to record a confidence-boosting victory. Best players for the impressive Huonville were Lange, Reynolds, Chivers and Wallace whilst Paul continued his good recent form kicking five goals. Better players for an inaccurate Claremont were Fewkes, Daly, Sweeney and Smith whilst Curtain kicked four goals in a lone hand up forward.
Sorell v Dodges Ferry
DODGES Ferry remain in third spot on the ladder after easily defeating a gallant but outclassed Sorell by 58 points, 18.15 (123) to 9.11 (65).
East Coast v Cygnet
EAST Coast recorded their best win of the season and put a real dent in Cygnet's quest for a finals berth as they hung on at home to eventually defeat a shattered opposition by seven points, 17.7 (109) to 15.12 (102).
