Dodges Ferry v New Norfolk
NEW Norfolk survived a huge scare and showed their class in the last term to eventually get over a brave Dodges Ferry away from home last weekend, kicking 15.15 (105) to 14.9 (93). The first term saw a real hard contest as both sides played some brilliant patches of football and the Sharks matched their more fancied rivals to grab a four point lead at the first change.

The second term saw the Eagles really step up a gear but Dodges Ferry were not going to let them get away and frustrated them as they gave them no space and only trailled by two points in a high standard game of football.

The second half became a real battle as the goal scoring dried up and the ability of the Eagles defence to hold firm in the last term saw them take the points in a real scare as they still hold on to top spot on the ladder. Best players for the Eagles were Crane, Hall, Heron and Horne whilst Thompson kicked four and Wardlaw three goals.

Central Hawks v Huonville (Kempton)
HUONVILLE recorded their fourth win of the season when they came from behind to defeat a courageous Central Hawks away by 18 points last weekend, 13.14 (92) to 11.8 (74). The first term saw both sides desperate to grab an advantage and there were plenty of skill errors and turnovers while only a point separated the sides. The Hawks would have been pleased to get off to a good start at home. The second term saw the Hawks really grab the advantage as they kicked five goals to two and really had their confidence up as they moved to a very handy 19 point lead at the main break.

Huonville bounced back in the third term, keeping the home side scoreless and they really tightened up their defence to wrest back the lead by 11 points but the game was still there to be won. The Hawks really fought the game out but just lacked a little bit of class and poise in the last term. The Lions would be happy to take the four points on a difficult road trip. Better players for the Hawks were Daly with four goals, Bryant, Jones and Matthews as they get closer to winning their first game of the season.

Brighton v Lindisfarne
LINDISFARNE just about sewed up a top two finish when they defeated a much improved Brighton away from home by 17 points, 10.14 (74) to 8.9 (57). The first term saw the home side really get off to a good start and matched their more fancied rivals and really played tight contested football as they grabbed a narrow one point lead and were well in the game. Lindisfarne slowly increased their intensity and were starting to create the loose man and moved to a handy 10 point lead but missed easy shots at goal and should of lead by more.

The third term saw the Blues still control the game in a low scoring contest but they could not get away to a comfortable lead as Brighton were at them all day but they could not close the gap and the Blues continued on their winning way especially four points on the road whilst Brighton would of been happy with a much improved performance. Better players for the Robins were Willing, Cowan, Matcham and Steele as they still remain out of the top six.

Claremont v East Coast
CLAREMONT bounced back after the previous week's loss when they recorded a solid 61-point win at home over an improving East Coast, 18.8 (116) to 7.13 (55). The first term saw the visitors really come out to play. They dominated patches of the first quarter but kicked poorly for goal as the Magpies took their chances and grabbed an eight point lead at the first change. The second term saw Claremont really step up a gear and started to run and create the loose man and the Bombers could not shut them down as they kicked seven goals to race away to a match winning lead of 47 points at the main break.

They continued to control the game in the third term and a big win looked on the cards but full credit to the Bombers as they outscored the home side in the last term but once again one bad quarter cost them any chance of winning. Best players for the winners were Wilson, Daly, Bennet with five goals and Rosewell, whilst Kamaric was dangerous up forward with five goals.

Kingborough v Sorell
KINGBOROUGH remains a solid third on the ladder after shaking off a persistent Sorell to win by 57 points, 17.15 (117) to 6.12 (48).
