Smoke alert for southern area

SMOKE ALERT FOR GREATER HOBART AND SURROUNDING AREAS

There are several bushfires burning along the West Coast which are causing a general smoke haze for Hobart and surrounding areas.

There is no threat to communities.

There may be smoke and ash from this fire visible around Greater Hobart and surrounding areas.

What to do:
  • People travelling in the area should exercise caution if driving in smoke. Turn on your headlights and drive slowly.
  • If you live in the area of the fire, stay informed in case conditions change by monitoring local radio stations and the Tasmania Fire Service Website - www.fire.tas.gov.au
