Washing your hands for 20 seconds is one of the most effective forms of infection control. Do this after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing; after close physical contact with anyone who is unwell; after using the toilet; before and after eating; before, during and after preparing food; and after feeding or touching a pet.

Valley and highland roadworks

ROADWORKS will cause delays on some roads in the Derwent Valley this week.

  • Gordon River Rd, from Maydena to Strathgordon. Roadside maintenance activities. Reduced speed limit with occasional lane closures between 8am and 4.30pm on January 15.
  • Lyell Hwy, 17km north of Tarraleah (south of Brady's Lake).  Major roadworks. Reduced speed limit with occasional lane closures between 7am and 5,30pm from January 12-19.
  • Lyell Hwy, Bronte Lagoon. Resurfacing and pavement marking. Reduced speed limit with frequent lane closures between 7am and 5pm on January 12 and 13.

Resurfacing works in the highlands may also affect those travelling to the lakes.

  • Lake Secondary Rd, Miena. Resurfacing and pavement marking. Reduced speed limit with frequent lane closures between 7am and 5pm on January 14 and 15.
  • Lake Secondary Rd, Bothwell. Resurfacing and pavement marking. Reduced speed limit with frequent lane closures between 7am and 5pm on January 18 and 19.
