Sunday traffic warning

THE council has advised of road closures and anticipated heavy traffic this Sunday associated with the Derwent Valley Autumn Festival on the Derwent Esplanade at New Norfolk.

Acting general manager Mark Eady says Ferry St, Page Ave and the area of the Esplanade will be closed between 8am and 5pm this Sunday, April 15.  Only permit holders will be permitted access during those times.

"Changes to traffic conditions and higher-than-usual volume of traffic may also be experienced in the vicinity of Tynwald Park and Hobart Rd," Mr Eady said. "Drivers and pedestrians are asked to take extra care and obey all road signage and directions.

"Residents and road users affected by this event are asked to make allowances for interruptions and delays while the event is being held. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused during this time," Mr Eady said.

Festival organisers do not appear to have provided any information to the media but it is understood free parking will be available at Tynwald Park, off Hobart Rd, and free shuttle buses will provide transport to the festival venue on the Esplanade.
