Weather Situation
An deep low is continuing to pass well to the south of Tasmania.
The Severe Weather Warning for the King Island, Furneaux Islands, North West Coast, Central North, North East, Western, Central Plateau, Midlands and East Coast forecast districts and parts of the Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast districts has been cancelled, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
Strong wind gusts today included: Spring Bay 143km/h, Cape Grim 137km/h, Mt Wellington 128km/h, Mount Read 126km/h, Scotts Peak 124km/h, Maatsuyker Island 119km/h, Maria Island119 km/h, Low Rocky Point 117km/h, with gusts over 100km/h also at Swan Island, Luncheon Hill, Low Head, Tasman Island, Burnie, Devonport and Eddystone Point.
The State Emergency Service and Tasmania Police advise that people should:
- Keep clear of fallen power lines.
- Don't drive, ride or walk through water flowing over roads and bridges and obey all road closure signs.
- Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
- Beware of fallen trees or debris on the road.
- For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES on 13 25 00.
No further warnings will be issued for this event.
