Farewell Charlie Gilbert
THE life of the Derwent Valley's best known Salvation Army man will be commemorated at the funeral of Charles Henry Gilbert later this week. Always a familiar site with his collecting tin in High St and at the football, Charlie Gilbert died on Saturday, aged 86, after a lifetime of service to the Salvos. The funeral will be held at the Salvation Army church at 79 Hamilton Rd, New Norfolk, at 1pm this Friday, February 6.
