Final round before finals

IN the Under 13s games on Sunday, New Norfolk 8 for 102 was defeated by Lindisfarne 4 for 165. Jordan Gittus had a great match making 21 not out and taking 1-17 (4) in a very good all round effort. Tatem Lovell also did well making 14 runs. Josh Cantrell 1-13 (2) and Coby Kemmler 1-21 (4) bowled very well and this young side has done a great job this season.

In the other Under 13s match, Gretna 8 for 50 off 20.2 overs went down to South Hobart/Sandy Bay 4 for 145 off 25 overs. Tyler Scanlon made 18 (2x4s), Jacob Blackwell 6 (1-4), Tyron Bailey 2-6 (3), Brodie Scanlon 1-19 (3) and Brayden Butler 1-24 (2).

In an excellent match at the Glenora school ground the Gretna Under 15s defeated New Norfolk by 59 runs. This match was not short of highlights. Having already taken two wickets and made 19 runs for New Norfolk II in Fourth Grade senior cricket on Saturday, 14-year-old Nathan Rice stepped things up on Sunday to take 3-30 (7) then went about making a superb 104 not out which included 20 boundaries. Another feature was the excellent 92 by Gretna captain Grant Booth who hit 11x4s and 4x6s and shared a 150-run partnership with Sam Booth who made 22 (3x4s, 1x6). It was a great innings by Booth who has shown much improvement this season. In other highlights for Gretna, Blake Eyles made 45 runs (4x4s, 2x6s), Josh Eyles 24 (5x4s), while Jake Campbell did very well taking 5-28 (8). For New Norfolk, Dylan Morgan made 20 (2x4s, 1x6), Cody Morgan 15 (2x4s), while bowlers Jye Bearman took 2-37 (6), D. Keleher took 1-17 (3), Rhys Franklin 1-29 (7), Cody Morgan 0-4 (4). With this standard of cricket from our juniors, cricket has a bright future in the Derwent Valley.

In the other Under 15s match, Molesworth II had a nail-biting 8-run win over the Kingston Crows at Queens Walk. Molesworth won the toss and had first hit making 10 for 168 off 35.4 overs. Opening batsman Jayden Wilton batted superbly, making a fine 62. Ben McRoss made 24, Colby Evans made 11 while Jeremy Nichols made 10. In reply the Crows were bowled out for 162. Unfortunately the Molesworth bowling figures weren't available. It was a great win by Molesworth which has had a great season.
