Queen's Birthday honours

FOUR names with Derwent Valley connections appear on the Queen's Birthday honours list today.

The late Dorothy Robinson and former Derwent Valley mayor Tony Nicholson have both been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) while Brighton mayor Tony Foster has been elevated to Member of the Order of Australia and former state premier Paul Lennon has been admitted as an Officer of the Order of Australia.

• The late Mrs Dorothy Faye Robinson, late of New Norfolk, for service to the community of New Norfolk, awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM). 
• Mr Antony David (Tony) Nicholson, of Lachlan, for service to local government and to the community of the Derwent Valley, awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM). 
• Mr Stephen Anthony (Tony) Foster OAM, of Pontville and who grew up at Plenty, for significant service to local government through leadership roles, to professional governance associations, and to the community of Brighton, elevated to Member of the Order of Australia (AM)
• The Honourable Paul Anthony Lennon, of Broadmarsh, for distinguished service to the Parliament and community of Tasmania, to economic diversification and sustainability, to improved social welfare opportunities, to major infrastructure development, and to reconciliation, admitted as an Officer in the general division of the Order of Australia (AO).
