Styx and Tyenna on flood watch

INITIAL FLOOD WATCH FOR

ALL SOUTHERN RIVER BASINS

Issued at 8:01 am EST on Monday 8 June 2015
By the Bureau of Meteorology, Hobart.

A flood watch is issued for all Southern river basins.
A series of fronts are crossing Tasmania this weekend bringing rain to most parts of the state. Rainfall totals of 15-40mm were reported about the west and south of the state since 9am Sunday.
A vigorous cold front will cross Tasmania during Monday, bringing additional rainfall totals in the range of 30 to 50 mm to the southern river basins. Isolated higher totals of up to 70mm are possible about elevated areas.
River and stream rises are occurring along the Huon, Styx and Tyenna river basins this morning, and are expected to continue during Monday into Tuesday.
Localised minor flooding of small creeks and low lying areas around the main rivers may occur in some locations during Monday.

Note: This Flood Watch is a "heads up" for possible future flooding and is NOT a Flood Warning.
Flood warnings will be issued for specific river basins if required.
