Flood watch for the Derwent

Initial Flood Watch for the River Derwent Basin

 Flood Watch Number: 1
Strong river rises are possible in River Derwent tributaries from overnight Monday into Tuesday. Minor flooding may develop at some locations.
A cold front will pass to the south of Tasmania overnight Monday into Tuesday, bringing showers to west, south and central areas.
The River Derwent catchment is wet from recent rainfall. In the 24 hours to 9 am Monday, widespread rainfall totals of 5 to 25 mm were recorded, with isolated totals up to 39 mm.
Persistent showers are expected overnight in the west and south of the catchment. Rainfall totals of 10 to 20 mm are forecast overnight Monday into Tuesday. Higher totals are possible in isolated and elevated areas.
Strong river rises are possible in River Derwent tributaries, such as the Florentine, Tyenna, Styx, and Plenty rivers, from overnight Monday into Tuesday. Minor flooding may develop at some locations.
Further catchment specific warnings will be issued if and when required.
