A MEETING will be held at New Norfolk after school this Friday to establish a local team for the competition known as the First Lego League.

The Derwent Valley Future Youth Action Team (D'FAT) has received grant funding to enable the establishment of a local team in the robotics-based problem-solving competition.

D'FAT chairman Nic Kaiser said the First Lego League (FLL) competition involved students aged from 9-16 years in teams of up to 10, to build, program and compete with a robot at state, national and international levels. As well as having fun, the participants learn about a problem facing modern science and engineering and develop solutions for it.

An information session will be held at 4pm this Friday (August 17) to establish the Derwent Valley’s FLL team at D'FAT's new meeting place at the Salvation Army’s New Norfolk headquarters at 79 Hamilton Rd. All welcome. Visit the D'FAT Facebook page for more information or call Matt Hill on 0459 096 003.
