Ceremonial first meeting for council

IN a break with tradition, the Derwent Valley Council will hold a ceremonial first meeting tomorrow (Thursday) night rather than wait until the scheduled monthly meeting as has been the past practise. The eight candidates elected last week will be sworn-in during the special meeting, which is scheduled to run from 6-7pm.

The meeting will be held in the New Norfolk Courthouse in Circle St and each councillor will be given the opportunity to speak for about five minutes. The public is invited to attend and no other business is expected to be dealt with during this meeting.

The monthly meeting scheduled for November 15 has been postponed until November 22, and the December meeting and AGM will be held on December 13.
