A CONTRACTOR working on improvements at the Derwent Esplanade in New Norfolk was injured in a workplace incident yesterday.
In a statement, the Derwent Valley Council said it was aware of the incident that occurred yesterday morning, but did not go into any detail about the nature of the accident.
"A contractor’s employee has been injured and taken to hospital by ambulance," a council spokesman said. "Worksafe Tasmania have been notified of the incident and council will work with them to
investigate how the incident occurred.
"Council is concerned about the contractor’s wellbeing and wishes him a speedy recovery. The works site will be closed to the public until worksafe enquiries have been conducted and the improvement works have been completed."
