Washing your hands for 20 seconds is one of the most effective forms of infection control. Do this after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing; after close physical contact with anyone who is unwell; after using the toilet; before and after eating; before, during and after preparing food; and after feeding or touching a pet.

Arts festival this weekend

THE New Norfolk War Memorial Hall in Circle St will be the venue of the inaugural Derwent Valley Festival of Arts from 10am-4pm this Saturday, September 21. The event is a partnership involving Derwent Valley Regional Arts and the Derwent Valley Concert Band and others. Admission is free.

Musical performance times:

  • 10am Derwent Valley Concert Band brass quartet
  • 10.30am-12.30pm New Norfolk Primary School Choir; New Norfolk Baroque Ensemble; Dinner for 8 (a capella vocal group); DVCB Development Band
  • 1pm Derwent Valley Concert Band percussion ensemble
  • 1.30pm New Norfolk High School concert and stage bands
  • 2.30pm Derwent Valley Concert Band woodwind quintet and trio
  • 3.30pm Derwent Valley Concert Band saxophone quartet

Art Exhibition and Competition

An exhibition of artwork for the 2013 Derwent Valley Regional Art Competition, by Derwent Valley and Central Highlands artists, will be on display in the Memorial Hall. The public is invited to vote for a people's choice award to be announced at 3pm. All the winning entries will be exhibited for public viewing at various locations within the Derwent Valley and Central Highlands over the following weeks. Download the schedule here.

The travelling exhibition Hidden Treasures of George Town will be on display in the Courthouse Gallery near the Memorial Hall, along with artwork by members of DVRA. Much of this artwork will be offered for sale.
