Police seek witnesses to Boyer crash

POLICE would like to hear from anyone who may have seen last night's fatal accident on Boyer Rd or either of the vehicles prior to the crash.

Police say a 26-year-old man from Brighton died as a result of a two vehicle crash on Boyer Rd near New Norfolk at 6.25 last night. The man and his 24-year-old female passenger were travelling west in a red Kia Rio.

The other vehicle was a white Holden Commodore sedan being driven east by a 27-year-old man from Chigwell and his 25-year-old male passenger from Rosetta. The men were travelling in a white Holden Commodore Sedan.

Police say the two cars collided head-on about 1km west of Norske Skog Boyer. The road was closed until after midnight while the scene was investigated.

"As a result of the collision the male driver of the Kia died at the scene. The female passenger in this vehicle received a broken leg, cuts and bruising, she is in a serious but stable condition. The driver of the Commodore received multiple broken bones. He was conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition. The front seat passenger of the Commodore received a broken nose cuts and bruises and is in a stable condition," the police statement said.

Police would like to hear from any person who may have witnessed the crash or saw either vehicle prior to the crash. Contact the police assistance line on 13 14 44.
