Minor Flood Warning for the River Derwent and River Clyde
Issued at 4:20pm on Sunday 3 December 2017
Flood Warning Number: 2
Minor flooding may occur along the River Clyde during Sunday and Monday. Minor flooding is not expected to extend downstream to Macquarie Plains and New Norfolk.
Strong river rises are likely to be observed in other parts of the River Derwent and River Ouse, during Sunday and Monday. River levels are likely remain below their minor flood levels during Sunday.
In the 48 hours to 3pm Sunday, widespread rainfall totals of 40 to 100mm were reported about the Derwent catchment. Further rainfall totals of up to 15 mm are likely to occur during the remainder of Sunday. Snow is falling at higher elevations. Rain is expected to ease Sunday evening into Monday.
Strong and dangerous flows may remain a hazard throughout the Derwent Catchment over the next few days.
River Ouse:
Strong river rises are likely to be observed in River Ouse, during Sunday and Monday. River levels are expected to remain below their minor flood levels during Sunday.
River Clyde:
Minor flooding may occur along the River Clyde.
The River Clyde at Bothwell is currently at 0.63 metres and steady. The River Clyde at Bothwell may reach the minor flood level (2.00 m) Sunday evening.The River Clyde at Hamilton may reach the minor flood level (2.40 m) during Monday.
Tyenna River:
Strong river rises are occurring along the Tyenna River during Sunday.
Styx River:
Strong river rises are occurring along the Styx River during Sunday.
River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:
River levels below Meadowbank Dam are likely remain below their minor flood levels during Sunday.
River Derwent around New Norfolk:
Minor flooding is not expected to extend downstream to Macquarie Plains and New Norfolk during Sunday.
