Fire Weather Warning
for the Upper Derwent Valley, King Island, East Coast, Midlands and South East forecast districts
Issued at 2.32pm on Friday 5 January 2018.
Weather Situation: A trough will cross Tasmania during Saturday afternoon ahead of a cold front to cross later that evening. Gusty northerly winds will tend northwesterly during the afternoon, then westerly during the evening, with mean speeds of 35 to 45km/h. Temperatures in the low to mid-30s and relative humidity reaching as low as 15% are expected.
For Saturday 6 January:
Severe Fire Danger is forecast for the following forecast districts: Upper Derwent Valley, Midlands, and South East
Very High Fire Danger is forecast for the following forecast districts: King Island and East Coast
The Tasmania Fire Service advises you to:
- Action your Bushfire Survival Plan now.
- Monitor the fire and weather situation through your local radio station, www.fire.tas.gov.au and www.bom.gov.au.
- Call 000 (Triple Zero) in an emergency.
