Bingley bounds out of the blocks

LACHLAN'S Phil Bingley has once again won bragging rights in the Derwent Valley Council election, being the first to stake a claim at New Norfolk's most popular spot for election signs in front of the Junction Motel. He was also the first to do so at the last council election in 2014.

With nominations opening yesterday morning, Mr Bingley's election sign was up by lunchtime, quickly followed by that of Wayne Shoobridge.

The known intending candidates for the Derwent Valley Council are:

  • Paul Belcher, of New Norfolk, (for councillor and mayor)
  • Philip Bingley, of Lachlan, (for councillor and mayor)
  • Jessica Cosgrove, (for councillor)
  • Cr Martyn Evans, of Magra, (for councillor and deputy mayor)

  • Matt Hill, of New Norfolk, (for councillor)
  • Cr Barry Lathey, of New Norfolk, (for councillor and deputy mayor)
  • Chris Lester, of Magra, (for councillor and mayor)
  • Cr Frank Pearce, of New Norfolk, (for councillor and deputy mayor)
  • Cr Anne Salt, of New Norfolk, (for councillor)
  • Rachel Power, of National Park, (for councillor and deputy mayor)
  • Cr Ben Shaw, of Lawitta, (for councillor and mayor)

  • Nominations announced.... noon Tuesday, 25 September 2018
  • Polling period .................... Monday, 8 October to 10am Tuesday, 30 October 2018
