FIRST GRADE: A half-century from Thomas Briscoe helped New Norfolk I record its second win in as many weeks in its match against Old Beach at Tynwald Park at the weekend. Batting first, the Red Caps made 10/176 from 44.5 overs, defeating Old Beach 10/129 off 32.3 overs. Briscoe hit four 4s and two 6s during his 50 runs which came off 59 deliveries, and shared an 80-run stand with Sam Hoggett who made 31 (2 fours). Opener Seb Wishart made 22 off 30 deliveries with two 4s and wicket-keeper Blake Kemmler at number 11 made a valuable 20 not out. With the ball, all the New Norfolk bowlers did their bit. Nathan Eiszele 3-24 (6.3), Josh Rowlands 3-28 (9) three maidens and Jordan Banks-Smith 3-43 (7) got among the wickets while Jason Rigby got 1-34 (10).
SECOND GRADE: A masterclass century and a handful of wickets by Brad Ransley helped Molesworth I to a big 111-run victory over St Anne's at Cadbury Oval No.1 on Saturday. Coming in at number five and with the score on a modest 3/74, Ransley went about building a big score for his team. The allrounder knocked-up an entertaining 138no in what club president and team-mate Brayden Hodge said was the best he had ever seen Ransley bat. The talented cricketer hit 17 4s and two 6s and shared an 86-run partnership with Brad Coppleman who after three ducks on the trot made a welcome return to form with 48, hitting four 4s and three 6s. Sam Triffitt made 31 (three 4s) and shared a 55-run stand with Brayden Hodge who made 30 (5 fours). With Ransley still at the crease, Sam Percy made 25 (two 4s) and the pair put on an excellent 109-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

A special moment was shared with the Ransley family on the day. Kerry Ransley played for Molesworth for 20 years and Saturday's match saw his sons Brad, Josh and Nick all play in the same team for the first time. Brad, 23, first played in the senior team in 2010/11 and Josh, who turned 21 on Sunday, began playing in the 2012/13 season. After debuting last season, Saturday's match was 12-year-old Nick’s first match for Molesworth I. Well done boys, it’s great to see the Ransley name continuing on with the club.
In the match at Cambridge Oval, New Norfolk II made it two from two when they defeated Derwent. No other details were available.
At Gretna, Knights accounted for Gretna I by 33 runs. Batting first, the visitors made 8/176 off their 50 overs. In reply, Gretna lost early wickets and at one stage lost 3/0 and was 5/23. Then Corey Ransley 25 (31) and Todd Jarvis regrouped with 51 together, and Mathew Burns with a well-made 52 from 39 deliveries (four 4s, three 6s) and Zac Wheeler 16 put on 52, but in the end it wasn't quite enough and they were bowled out for 143 off 33 overs. Trent Grant was the main wicket-taker with 3-39 (10) and Mathew Burns 2-27 (10).
FOURTH GRADE: In a reduced 36-over match at Collinsvale, Bothwell defeated home side the Knights by eight wickets. Needing 133 for victory, Bothwell all-rounder Josh Eyles belted six 4s and seven 6s on his way to a marvellous 86no from just 45 deliveries. Eyles shared a 110-run stand with Jamie Devine who held his own with 18no (one 4) steering the Bucks to a very good victory, finishing 2/134 from 16.5 overs. Earlier the Knights made 5/132 off 36 overs. With the ball for Bothwell, Simon Eyles took 2-16 off 5 and Mark Pearce 2-27 (10) and 2 maidens.
FIFTH GRADE: Playing at Tynwald Park, New Norfolk III went down to Lindisfarne by seven wickets. Winning the toss and batting, the Red Caps didn’t get off to a great start, losing captain Nathan Heron with the first ball of the match. Opening partner Leigh Berry hung around and made a valuable 44. Berry hit five fours during his 77 delivers. At number seven, Chris Hall stood tall with nearly run a ball 30 (one 4, one 6) and Coby Kemmler made 14. There were five ducks. In reply, the visitors got the runs with little fuss finishing 3/120 from 31.2 overs. David Mitchelmore was the pick of the bowlers with 1-19 (7).
In a low-scoring match at Lindisfarne, Gretna II went down to Rokeby by two wickets. Winning the toss and electing to bat, Gretna was bowled out for 99 off 49.2 overs. Opener Marc Worldon top-scored with 28. In reply, Rokeby was going pretty well at 4/82, but then found itself in a spot of bother losing four wickets for 12 runs to be 8/94. But from here they steadied to run out winners, 8/100 off 34.1 overs. In a lone hand with the ball, young Bailey Wheeler did extremely well, finishing with a five-wicket haul and the excellent figures of 5-17 off 9.1 overs. In his first match for Gretna, Dylan Grant picked up 2-23 (10), welcome to the club Dylan.
SEVENTH GRADE: Bothwell I recorded its first win of the 50-over season when it defeated Old Beach by 79 runs at Bothwell. Winning the toss and batting, the Bucks posted the good score of 9/213 off 37.3 overs. First drop all-rounder Nathan White top-scored with a fast making 51 from just 36 balls. White smashed five 4s and two 6s and shared a 75-run stand with keeper Dylan Branch who also led the way with a nice 41 from 59 balls (two 4s). Blake Eyles made 23 (24) and Jorden Conley 21 (20). In reply, the Bushrangers were bowled out for 134 from 36 overs. Doing the damage with the ball was opener Nathan White who had a great game taking 3-22 (8). White was well-supported with Jorden Conley with 2-19 (8), Blake Eyles 2-19 (6) and Connor Woodham 2-18 (3).
In the other Seventh Grade match, Molesworth II went down to Derwent by 62 runs at Boyer Oval. The home side won the toss and sent Derwent in to bat, making 10/131 off 36.2 overs. In reply, Molesworth never got going and was bowled out for 69 off 29.4 overs. Josh Nichols top-scored with 14 and Blayne King made 10. Opener John Fowle bowled superbly sending down eight overs, finishing with 3-11 with three maidens in a great spell. Jamie Bowerman was good with 3-17 (5.2) and Shayne Upton took 2-15 (6).
