Severe Weather Warning

for DAMAGING WINDS

For people in South East and parts of Upper Derwent Valley, East Coast and Midlands Forecast Districts.

POSSIBLE DAMAGING WINDS SOUTHEAST TASMANIA DURING MONDAY

Weather Situation: A trough will cross the state during the morning, bringing strong and gusty westerly winds over the south and east of the state during the morning.
DAMAGING WESTERLY WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts up to 100 km/h are possible across the southeast of Tasmania during Monday morning and early afternoon.
Winds are expected to ease slightly during the late afternoon, though remaining fresh and gusty across the southeast.
Locations which may be affected include Orford, New Norfolk, Hobart, Geeveston, Dover and Dodges Ferry.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving.
* Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further advice.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11pm Sunday.
