Wade's tips for second week of cricket finals

Wade Gleeson’s southern cricket finals tips

WELL after only getting one out of my five tips correct in last weekend's finals, I better get my act together for the second weekend.

FIRST GRADE: With New Norfolk I having the week off after finishing on top of the ladder, the second semi-final against the in-form Wellington is going to be a cracker. The Warriors gave the Red Caps a cricket lesson in Round 14 just two weeks back, but I’m going to tip New Norfolk to display that great form from the roster matches that got them to top spot on the ladder. Seb Wishart and Jason Rigby will make very good scores, while Josh Rowlands and Thomas Briscoe will clean up with the ball. New Norfolk by 19 runs or two wickets. New Norfolk I v Wellington at Tynwald Park, New Norfolk, 10.30am today (Saturday).

SECOND GRADE: I’m tipping Gretna I to bounce back after their second semi-final loss to New Norfolk II last Saturday and defeat Derwent in today's Preliminary Final. In their last encounter in Round 14, Gretna took the chocolates and I’m tipping them to do this again. Glenn Blackwell and Craig Cunningham will put on plenty of runs. With the ball, partners in crime Aaron Maddox and Corey Ransley will bowl in tandem and clean up the visitors in two very tidy spells. Gretna by 45 runs or four wickets. Gretna I v Derwent at Gretna, 10.30am today (Saturday).

FOURTH GRADE: After last Saturday’s slip up, I’m tipping Bothwell I to bounce back in today's Preliminary Final and defeat St Virgil’s convincingly. In the two matches they contested in the roster matches, Bothwell won on both occasions, once by three wickets and the other by just three runs. Father and son Joey and Josh Eyles will lead the Bucks with the bat, while Brock Nichols and Matthew Eyles will do the damage with the ball. Bothwell by 70 runs or six wickets. Bothwell I v St Virgil’s at Bothwell, 10.30am today (Saturday).
