Washing your hands for 20 seconds is one of the most effective forms of infection control. Do this after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing; after close physical contact with anyone who is unwell; after using the toilet; before and after eating; before, during and after preparing food; and after feeding or touching a pet.

Learn to swim at Bushy Park

CHILDREN'S swimming lessons are available on weekdays at the Bushy Park Pool this summer. Lifeguard Leigh Nichols is offering lessons at a cost of $15 per child, or $10 each if there are multiple swimmers. The times are 9am, 10am and 11am. Lessons run for an hour each and are being offered in two different classes:

Beginner Swimmers: This offers water familiarisation including safe entry to water, head submergence, front floating, and opening eyes underwater. This is for Stage 1 swimmers (4yrs and above), with a maximum of two per class.

Stroke Development: Introduction to and development of swimming strokes including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, survival backstroke and sidestroke. This is for Upper Stage 1 – Stage 2 swimmers (5yrs and above). Participants should be confident in submerging their head, opening their eyes underwater and floating on their stomach without an aid. Maximum of five swimmers per class.

Bushy Park War Memorial Swimming Pool is at 601 Gordon River Rd, Bushy Park, and is open from noon-6pm on weekdays and 10am-6pm on weekends. The solar-heated pool is 33m in length. Facilities include a kiosk and barbecue area.
