A temporary traffic light has controlled a lane-closure on Molesworth Rd in recent months. |
The road has been partially closed for some months since it was discovered that heavy rain had dangerously undermined the road during last year's floods. Temporary traffic lights and water-filled barriers were installed soon after.
Electronic signs posted at each end of Molesworth Rd indicate that the road will be closed from today, February 18, until March 22. This is a week later than the original start-date of February 12.
The affected section of the road is within the Glenorchy municipality, which has appointed Batchelor Construction Group to carry out the works. The Glenorchy City Council says Molesworth Rd will be closed to all through traffic during the project. The Brooker and Lyell highways are the suggested alternative route.

Glenorchy City Council has apologised for the inconvenience this may cause, and asks all residents, motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to obey all signs.
