At the Great Pine Tier fire, a fire retardant line was successfully laid. This was done to support efforts to keep the fire from spreading into the Walls of Jerusalem National Park. Further backburning efforts were undertaken or are planned for areas around Lake Augusta in the north and Sukes Tier to the south at Lake Echo. Crews were also active in blacking out hotspots in the area of Bashan Plains.
In the south at Riveaux Rd, fire crews today consolidated containment lines around the fire from Judbury to Geeveston. Where safe to do so crews took the opportunity to do to localised backburning in places from Glendevie to Geeveston.
Unfortunately the prevailing winds today pushed the western edge of the fire towards the Arthur Ranges. The spread of the fire in this area will be monitored over the coming days.
At Gell River, the fire did not put pressure on the current contained edges and the Watch and Alert message for Maydena and surrounding areas was reduced to Advice level this evening.

In the North-West, the Lynch Hill and Western Hill fires remained within containment lines. The fire at Brittons Swamp continued to grow, fanned by strong westerly winds, and pushed towards Waratah Plain. Crews, with air support, continued to patrol and attack the fire where safe.
All alert messages have been downgraded to advice level tonight. The TFS advises people who are planning to return to their property to take steps to minimise risk to themselves and their families.
