Coppleman's big haul at Molesworth trophy night

(seventh grade).
THE Molesworth Cricket Club held its trophy presentations night at the Star and Garter Hotel in New Norfolk earlier this month, with about 40 people including members, guests and life members in attendance.

The young and talented cricketer Daniel Coppleman took home a number of trophies in second grade including the Danny Godfrey best player award. The all-rounder scored 334 runs for the season and also took 16 wickets and nine catches. In seventh grade, spin bowler Kye Tomkinson picked up the best player award as well as the bowling aggregate with 21 wickets and bowling average of 17.86 with best figures of 6/21.

Tye Benson
For the first time, the club awarded the Rodney “Moose” Menzie Memorial Trophy for the most improved player. Moose was a long time supporter of the club and some of his family members came along to present the award to the inaugural winner, Tye Benson. This was a lovely gesture by the club to a great guy who certainly loved the club.

During the presentations, the club announced that Brett Smith would be the new coach for the 2019/20 season. Smith has previously spent 26 years involved with the Glenorchy Cricket Club with 22 of those years on the committee, from president down to general committee member. He played 160 games through all grades with 70 of those as captain. This is a great appointment by Molesworth, which will certainly help both on and off the field season. There are exciting times ahead.

Sam Percy
Life members in attendance were Scott Jarvis, Tony Hall, Craig Coppleman and Craig Vernon. Well done to all involved at the club, in particular president Brayden Hodge, secretary Cathy Adams, treasurer Mel Piuselli  and coach Brad Coppleman.
