THE New Norfolk Historical Information Centre is seeking nominations for a proposed publication to be called the Derwent Valley Biographical Dictionary. This aims to include those people born, living and working in the Derwent Valley between 1807-1915. It is intended each biography be no more than 500 words and may include a photograph.
Each biography will contain some or all of the following information in the following order: surname, given name(s), birth-death years, occupation, place of abode; subject’s education; place of arrival in Australia, date, ship and status of subject; date joined military, place regiment, rank, war service and discharge date; land acquired, area, date, locality; name of spouse (birth-death years), father’s name and abode and mother’s given name and maiden name; date and place of marriage; church name and religion; children of subject, given name(s), (birth-death years), married name of female children.
The second and following paragraphs will contain additional biographical material relating to such things as sporting achievements, recreational pursuits, awards & honours, community and public service. The final paragraph is to feature the subject’s date and place of death and burial.
