Bureau of Meteorology
Flood Summary

Issued at 4:46 pm on Friday, July 5, 2013.

The following Watches/Warnings are current:

  • MINOR FLOOD WARNING FOR THE NORTH ESK RIVER BASIN
  • FLOOD WATCH FOR ALL NORTHERN, WESTERN AND SOUTH-EASTERN RIVER BASINS
  • FINAL MINOR FLOOD WARNING FOR THE HUON RIVER

Flood Watch Advice continues for all the northern, western and southeastern river basins.

Rainfall totals in the range of 30 to 76mm were reported in the 24 hours to 9am Friday about the north of the state and up to 25mm in the south.

Strong rises have been observed in most rivers and streams across the north during Friday. River levels are expected to remain below their minor flood levels in all northern rivers basins, except for the North Esk River where a minor Flood Warning is current.

Further rainfall is expected overnight Friday across the western and south-eastern river basins, with renewed river rises likely to occur on Saturday. Snow melting during the next few days will contribute to maintain high rivers levels in the Huon River.
