Cancellation of
Severe Weather Warning
for people in the Western, Midlands, East Coast, Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast districts

Weather Situation
A deep area of low pressure to the south is producing a vigorous west to northwesterly airstream over Tasmania.
The Severe Weather Warning for parts of the Western,
Midlands, East Coast, Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast
districts has been cancelled, but the situation will continue to be
monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
In the last 6 hours wind gusts about exposed coastal
and elevated areas in southern Tasmania have reached 100 t0 125km/h, but
areas at lower elevations have seen gusts of only 60 to 80 km/h.
The State Emergency Service and Tasmania Police advise that people should:- Keep clear of fallen power lines.
- Don't drive, ride or walk through water flowing over roads and bridges and obey all road closure signs.
- Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
- Beware of fallen trees or debris on the road.
For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES on 132 500.
No further warnings will be issued for this event.

The road weather alert for gusty winds on exposed
Tasmanian roads has been cancelled, but the situation will continue to
be monitored and further alerts will be issued if necessary.
