Gretna II into first southern final

GRETNA II will play its first Southern Cricket Association grand final after defeating Hobart by 58 runs last weekend. In a reduced 35 over match, Gretna had first hit and made the very good score of 184. Opener Bruce Emery who has been in great form of recent weeks and batted through the whole innings to remain 64 not out. Emery faced the first and last balls of the innings putting on 49 with fellow opener Nick Wakefield who made 15. Coming in down the order, Peter Jelkic did well making 42 (two fours and two sixes) and putting on 65 with Emery. This was a classic innings by Emery who wasn't in the best of health at the end. A brave effort Bruce.

In reply, Hobart was bowled out for for 126 in the 33rd over. All the Gretna bowlers did well with captain Joey Eyles 2-8 having with the best figures while Peter Jelkic capped off a good day taking 2-21 while Dylan Pearce and Brock Nichols also took two each.

Well done to Gretna. This was a big win in the context of the season and knocking off the favourites. Here's hoping you get a premiership over DOSA on Saturday.
