ROUND 8 PREVIEWS

Sorell v New Norfolk
SORELL is back at home but will have to wait another week to record their second win of the season as tomorrow's match with the in-form New Norfolk looks certain to be a one-sided affair. Sorell lost away from home against the undefeated Claremont last weekend but was competitive for most of the game. That display would have given them the chance to beat most sides in the competition and they really need to produce that form at home if they are to push their more fancied rivals.
New Norfolk thrashed a disappointing Dodges Ferry last weekend in a game where most people thought they would be challenged. They stood up and showed their domination and more importantly with players returning from injury they have hit top form early in the season.
Sorell will need to use the wide open spaces of Pembroke Park and chip the ball to try to get the ball long and deep into their forward line. New Norfolk has a big and powerful defence, which will see it take control of the game. The midfield battles are crucial.
Sorell may be competitive early in the game but New Norfolk is back in top form and hungry to boost the percentage and get a stronger hold on second position on the ladder. New Norfolk will be expected to run away with a big victory away from home and it will be interesting to see how competitive Sorell will be for most of the game.
Brighton v Huonville
BRIGHTON remains at home for the second week in a row and will be determined to grab another four points after last week's fade-out. Tomorrow they take on a struggling Huonville in a game they are expected to win. You would expect the Lions to come out firing and put up a real effort but Brighton has as much to play for and the disappointment last weekend will spur on their players to record their third victory of the season as they push hard for a top five berth.
Claremont v East Coast
IN the game of the round, top-placed and undefeated Claremont will take on the much improved East Coast Bombers who are currently third on the ladder. The game will really test the Magpies to see if they can lift for this crucial game. Both sides have key forwards capable of kicking the winning score and the midfield battles will decide the outcome of the game. You would expect the big and stronger bodies of the Magpies to win the crucial one on one contests which will go a long way to winning the game. It will be close for most of the day perhaps the experience and class of Claremont will see them take the points in a close game but they must be at their best as the Bombers would fancy themselves causing an upset.
Hobart v Dodges Ferry
HOBART is back at home and looking to win its third game of the season, taking on a fourth-placed Dodges Ferry still stunned by last week’s heavy defeat and determined to make amends. Hobart will be competitive for most of the game but the strength and class of Dodges Ferry should see them record a comfortable victory and entrench them in the top five with aspirations to move into the top three.
Lindisfarne v Cygnet
FIFTH-PLACED Lindisfarne is back at home and looking for a percentage-boosting victory but they will need to play better than they did last weekend as they take on an improving Cygnet who will be buoyed by last weeks first win of the season. Lindisfarne should record a comfortable victory and it will be interesting to see how much the young Port side have improved and if they can really push their highly fancied rivals.

Good wins and good sportsmanship in soccer

Under 6 Black put in a great effort. Special mention to Lucas and Zack for great sportsmanship and to our youngest player Lewis who shows improvement each week. Goal kickers: Vincent 4, James 3, Hemi 2, Shaun and Zack. Well done boys.
Under 7 Red played a fast-paced game against Dominic at Tynwald Park. A Super effort by all, with a special mention to Lilly for her constant improvement and really starting to get in amongst it all, and also to Anthony for his great work after copping a ball to the face which knocked out his wobbly tooth!
Under 7 Black gave a fantastic team effort against Holy Rosary. All players have improved so much this season. An outstanding game by Rodney Browning scoring his first two goals. Special mention to Amber Rainbird for scoring two goals and Tristan Nicholson scoring one. Keep up the awesome work guys.
Under 8 Red played a great game against a friendly Bagdad side. Awesome work by all players with goals to Jack, Nayte and J'Khobi. Declan, Jacob and Josh tried hard all game. Thanks to Kiara for her excellent goalie work and to both Kiara and Josh for filling in for us.
Under 8 Black once again played a hard game with all learning more each week. Mikayla and Jack scored well-earned goals, while Joshua and Jess tried very hard in the goals. Caitlin, Mia, Astrid and Jacob tried hard to stop a very good team in Brighton White. Thanks to Jack, Nayte and Declan for filling in as substitutes. With Jack and Joshua playing two games, both boys were very tired.
Under 9 played a great game against Brighton. Well done Maiken for his goal. The other goal was an own goal. Fantastic work by Abby and Caleb in goals with some great saves. Jenny and Caylin are both gaining more confidence as our newest players. Well done team.
Under 10 had a 9-0 win against Derwent United on a fantastic morning for soccer. Our goal-kickers were Aidan 3, Kiara 2 and one each to Luke, Ostyn, Brock and Jacob. Goal keepers were Luke and Alex B. Special mention to Alex B and Maddy who each played a half for Derwent with fantastic sportsmanship playing as hard for Derwent as they do for New Norfolk. Also well done to Alex G and Freya who ran hard all game. Well done everyone, you should be very proud.
Under 11 defeated Derwent United 3-1 at Weily Park on Friday night. Once again a fantastic contribution by all team members. Goal scorers were Levi 2 and Brayden. Well done Under 11.
Under 14 defeated New Town White by four goals (6-2). A fast-paced game and great team work saw us leading by a goal in the first half. Nathan Coleman had a fantastic run from the backline which resulted in a penalty and was kicked right on the half-time whistle. Liam Kalbfell having played well in goals came out in the second half to kick two goals, one being from a corner kick in. Excellent skills from the backline through to the fast-paced forwards allowed Braydon Wilson to score three goals. This was the best game I have seen this team play and they all should be proud of themselves!! Well done guys and girls.
Under 16 played Huonville at Tynwald Park and although they lost they kept Huonville goal-less in the second half because of good team structure. Sam scored the goal for New Norfolk.
Seniors – New Norfolk Division 4 ended their run of matches against the top four teams with an away game against second on the ladder Derwent. The team started well, scoring the first goal through Luke Slater but lost two goals by half time. The second half was an end-to-end affair with both sides going close. New Norfolk almost snatched a well-deserved draw after Josh Young’s free kick rattled the crossbar and bounced down and eventually out of danger. The defence put on an incredibly solid performance to continually deny the prolific Derwent strikers. This week the team are at home at Tynwald Park versus University at 2.30pm, come along and show your support.

FOURTH-PLACED Dodges Ferry was reminded of the large gap between it and the top sides when it hosted New Norfolk and was totally out played all day last Saturday, eventually losing by 112 points. The Eagles wanted to make a statement away from home and they did that in the first term, piling on four goals. Even though the Sharks flooded their forward line they were able to generate many scoring options and raced to a handy 25-point lead at the first change.
The second term was again all one way for New Norfolk as its defence started to tighten up and limited the scoring opportunities for the Sharks. The Eagles kicked a further seven goals and raced to a match-winning lead of 57 points at the main break. By then the only interest in this game was how much the Eagles were going to win by.
The second half followed the same pattern but more importantly New Norfolk really tightened its defence, allowing the home side to kick only one goal as they raced away to another commanding victory and sent out a warning to other sides in the competition that this powerful side is nearing its peak.
Best players for the Eagles were Belcher, Horne and forward Thomson whilst key forwards Hall kicked fie and Wilson kicked four. With many options up forward they again showed they have superior scoring ability. Better players for the Sharks were Cannon, Curran, Little and Jackson as they now know the benchmark of what they need to match it with the top sides.

CLAREMONT continued its unbeaten start to the season and defeated the gallant Sorell by 49 points. The Magpies moved to a handy 20 point at the first change. The second term saw the visitors take control of the midfield battle and they were able to kick five goals for the term and reduce the margin to 10 points at the main break. The third term saw the Magpies step up a gear as they dominated all over the ground, slamming on seven goals for the term and they moved to a match-winning lead of 33 points at the last change. The last term saw Claremont register a comfortable victory but the young Eagles would have pleased Coach Lewis with their effort against the top side of the competition.
Lindisfarne 10.15 (75) defeated Brighton 8.15 (63)
LINDISFARNE moved two games clear in the top five after a real battle away from home, eventually defeating a gallant Brighton by 12 points in a low-scoring affair. Lindisfarne tried to make a statement in the first term and they did that from the first bounce as they put in a dominant to display to kick six unanswered goals and raced to a 36 point lead at the first change and looked to be in for a big victory. The young Brighton side worked its way back into the game in the second half and kept the opposition scoreless while kicking three goals of their own to reduce the margin to 17 points at half time. Brighton kicked another five unanswered goals to again keep the highly-rated opposition without a goal in the third term as they moved to a nine-point lead and looked set to run away with a great win in front of their home crowed. In the final term the Two Blues really got their game going, kicking four unanswered goals and holding the Robins to only six behinds as they went on to a gutsy win away.

CYGNET recorded its first win of the season with a great display at home, eventually defeating arch-rivals Huonville by 29 points. The margin would have been greater except for inaccurate kicking.

Ceremonial start to Woolies development
“We are tremendously excited to officially mark the commencement of work on this modern new development after two years of planning,”
Mr Weight said. The development will include a brand new 3200sqm Woolworths store and parking for more than 200 cars.
"The new development will create more than 150 jobs during the construction period with a further 120 local
jobs at the Woolworths supermarket once the development is completed. We are pleased to be supporting local construction jobs with the appointment of Macquarie Builders as the lead contractor for the project,” he said.
With construction subject to weather and other variables the new New Norfolk store is expected to open in mid-2015.

School seeks a work of art

The department would like a metal/timber wall or freestanding artwork to be located either in or around the entrance area to the upgraded building. Many old-scholars will remember the building as the woodwork block.
"The artwork will inspire students who are studying MDT and artists are encouraged to consider the nature of the making process and material richness as themes and inspiration for the concepts guiding the artwork," the brief says.
The amount of the commission is just under $7000. "Themes such as traditional, current and future metal and timber technologies would be relevant to the students. The facility has been equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for metal and timber work, and the artist might be able to utilize some of the equipment for the fabrication of the artwork depending on the complexity and scope of the project."
It would be great to see this commission go to a local artist. More information is available at the Tasmanian Government's arts@work website.
New Norfolk Cricket Club trophy night

When the trophies were presented it was no surprise that the star all-rounder Stewart Rice would collect a bag full. Rice has served the club for more than 20 seasons and had a stellar season to say the least, winning just about every award before him including the premiership - which I'm sure was by far the best award. Another player to also collect a swag of trophies was Leigh Berry who won many awards including the 5th Grade club champion. Well done Leigh.
During the presentations, Life Membership was bestowed on Daniel Vagg and Ashley Morgan. These two players have given great service to the club over many seasons and thoroughly deserve this award. Well done guys.
During the night the club sold some 25 bottles of port to commemorate the premiership won by New Norfolk I. I'm told there will be more made up to sell during the next season. The club thanks its sponsors, DRV Welding and Fabrications, Banjos New Norfolk, Schweppes and the New Norfolk District Football Club. Thanks also to the canteen volunteers, a superb effort.

ROUND 7 PREVIEWS

Dodges Ferry v New Norfolk
IN the game of the round tomorrow the all-conquering Dodges Ferry remains at home for the second week in a row when they take on New Norfolk. The Sharks have showed they are hungry for success with last weekend's total thrashing of Cygnet on their home ground but they would have preferred a harder contest as they come in against the bigger bodies and experience of the New Norfolk side.
The Eagles received a great test at home last weekend from an improving East Coast Bombers and they are slowly getting some of their key players back to form from injury as well as starting to spread the ball much more evenly in their forward line and taking the right option for their scoring opportunities when going forward.
The home side will attempt to close the game up on the small Shark Park Oval and will need to be competitive around the contested possessions and will most likely push Curran back across the half back line to help out their defence against a dominant tall marking New Norfolk side. New Norfolk's bigger-bodied players will try to assert themselves in the contests and they will look to get the ball long and deep. If the Eagles take over the midfield battles they have the ability to score heavily.
Whilst the Sharks will give themselves a real chance to cause an upset you would expect New Norfolk to relish the challenge away from home. The Eagles could be expected to have too much experience and marking power up forward and they should record a victory, but they must start the game well and not allow the home side any early scoreboard pressure.
Sorell v Claremont
SORELL remain at home for the second week in a row when they take on the undefeated Claremont in what appears to be a one-sided affair. You would expect the Magpies to record a big win away from home and remain unbeaten and let’s hope the Sorell team can be competitive for much of the contest.
Brighton v Lindisfarne
BRIGHTON returns home after last weekend’s impressive victory when they take on Lindisfarne who will be desperate for the four points after two consecutive losses. The Two Blues will have too much to play for and will be looking to cement their position in the top five. This will be a good gauge for an improving Brighton to see if they can push one of the top sides of the competition.
East Coast v Hobart
THE East Coast Bombers are back on their home ground to take on the improving Hobart Tigers and will be looking to record a solid victory to stay in touch with the top three sides. Lets hope the Tigers are competitive early in the game but the Bombers should be far too strong and after two close losses they will be determined to record a big victory at home and lock their position in the top five.
Cygnet v Huonville
CYGNET returns to home turf this weekend. Still looking for the first win of the season, they have a great opportunity when they take on arch rivals Huonville as the Port always lift for this grudge match and will fancy themselves of causing an upset. In a game that could go either way perhaps Huonville may have a little bit more experience and with a stronger defence they should be able to hold the Port to a losing score and record their third win of the season.

Mayor spruiks Willow Court on TV news

The bulletin highlighted the great progress that has been made over the last 18 months, following more than a decade of neglect. It reported that Councillor Evans had invited Premier Will Hodgman, Federal Environment Minister Greg Hunt and other state and federal politicians to visit Willow Court next month to inspect the recent progress for themselves.
Earlier this month the federal minister visited Woolmers Estate near Launceston were he was informed of plans for a convict interpretation centre and encouraged the owners to apply quickly for "infrastructure maintenance money" from the Federal Government. Last week Mr Hunt visited Port Arthur Historic Site to honour the Federal Government's promise to contribute $1.5 million in addition to the State Government's $3 million for stabilisation works there.

Young man's amazing attitude after car crash

"A bus accidentally hit my car yesterday when my nephew and I were in it," Josh Walsh posted on Facebook tonight. "It could've been so much worse if I didn't brake to a complete stop when I saw the bus coming and if the bus was actually speeding, which it wasn't."
Josh, who works at the New Norfolk RSL, said his car had been written-off but neither he or his nephew were injured. "Complete strangers who live in New Norfolk made sure everyone was OK and did everything they could to help."
The New Norfolk cricketer and junior football coach has taken a positive approach to the accident and says no-one was to blame. He also says the crash has reinforced his view of all that is good about New Norfolk. "I've seen a few accidents and tragedies during my life, but one thing that can't be argued is the community sticking together and being there when another community member needs them," Josh said.

While the New Norfolk players did well and never gave in, they were outclassed on the day. The next game is against Derwent at Weily Park at 2.30pm this Sunday 25th. Spectators welcome.
Under 6 Red played a great game on home turf with Ruby scoring two goals while Jake, Harry, Noah and Anna kicked a goal each. It was a good game even though we were defeated. Well done guys, good teamwork.
Under 6 Black played well. Lucas kicked a goal and to Zack displayed great sportsmanship. Well done boys and thank you to Tim for coaching.
Under 7 Red enjoyed a great game against Brighton Yellow at Brighton. Tristain certainly had his kicking boots on, scoring a goal scored from the other end of the field. Tenesha and Brady scored a great goal with some super teamwork. What a team!
Under 7 Black had a good game with Dominic in very windy conditions, with all players contributing. A special mention to Oliver and Gemma. Well played.
Under 8 Red played a great game with some good saves by Josh and Declan in goals. Lots of running and huge kicks from Jack, Nayte and Hamish and a strong defensive game on the backline by J’Khobi and Jacob.
Under 8 Black tried hard against a strong Brighton side. Jacob Judges and Jess Booth did very well in the goals. Special thanks to Jack for subbing for us before his own game and Joshua subbing in the Red team. Mikayla, Caitlin and Mia played well.
Under 9 played their best game ever, defeating Moonah Primary by seven goals to four. Goal scorers were Abby, Maiken, Cruez, Caleb and Luke. Well done to Ella in goals. Jenny, Caylin and Oliver did some great passing. Well done team.
Under 10 had a fantastic game against Brighton Gold tonight with a 6-1. Two great goals were kicked by Kiara, while Aidan, Alex B, Luke and Ostyn all scored one each. Defence work by Alex G, Alex Mc and Brock was outstanding. Freya and Kiara continually moved the ball forward all night. Great talking and passing by everyone, well done.
Under 11 defeated Brighton Maroon 8-3 at Tynwald Park on Saturday. Despite the wet and blustery conditions the team pulled together and supported each other throughout both halves. Goal scorers were Jed 4, Jacob 2, Levi and Dylan.

New Norfolk 15.17 (107) defeated East Coast Bombers 10.9 (69)
SECOND-PLACED New Norfolk defeated an improving East Coast Bombers by 38 points in windy conditions at Boyer Oval on Saturday. The Eagles started well in the first term, not allowing the young East Coast Bombers into the game. New Norfolk dominated the contested possessions and gave its forwards first use of the ball as they kicked five goals to move to a 25-point lead at the first change and a big win appeared on the cards.
The second term saw the Bombers close up the game and play more accountable football, slowing down New Norfolk’s scoring ability. Both sides kicked only two goals each but the Eagles still had a handy 26-point lead and the Bombers were struggling to find avenues up forward.

SECOND-PLACED New Norfolk defeated an improving East Coast Bombers by 38 points in windy conditions at Boyer Oval on Saturday. The Eagles started well in the first term, not allowing the young East Coast Bombers into the game. New Norfolk dominated the contested possessions and gave its forwards first use of the ball as they kicked five goals to move to a 25-point lead at the first change and a big win appeared on the cards.
The second term saw the Bombers close up the game and play more accountable football, slowing down New Norfolk’s scoring ability. Both sides kicked only two goals each but the Eagles still had a handy 26-point lead and the Bombers were struggling to find avenues up forward.

Glenora keen on local college plan
NINE schools including Glenora District High have expressed an interest in being among the first four to be extended to Year 12 next year. This follows a letter being sent to 28 regional and rural high schools inviting formal expressions of interest last month.
"It is extremely encouraging we have had over double the number of schools apply, compared to actual places," Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff said yesterday. "This response demonstrates that there is no shortage of schools eager to adopt our plan to improve Year 12 completion rates by providing another option for students at danger of dropping out post-Year 10."
Education Department officials will visit the nine interested schools to discuss their plans for delivering Years 11 and 12, with the minister expecting their recommendations by the end of next month. Schools that miss out on being approved for extension next year will be reconsidered for 2016.

Papermaker to the nation
For its first 40 years, the Boyer mill was the sole producer of Australian newsprint but this ended once its sister mill opened at Albury.
Following the successful conversion of one of Boyer’s two machines to the production of lightweight coated (LWC) paper, Boyer is now the only Australian producer of magazine and catalogue-grade paper.
The converted machine will produce around 140,000 tonnes of LWC per annum. The project took 18 months to complete at a cost of $85 million. Customers were this week given a tour of the new facility ahead of the official opening planned for early June.
Norske Skog regional president, Andrew Leighton welcomed the new product and thanked everyone associated with the machine conversion and the new product’s development. “Vantage is the only locally produced LWC on the market and has already run successfully on a number of major printing presses," Mr Leighton said.
“I would like to thank the Federal and Tasmanian governments for supporting this project together with the significant capital investment by our owners. This project is a key component of our regional strategy to transform the business from being wholly a newsprint producer to having a more diverse future in paper, fibre and energy.
“I congratulate the team at Boyer for their painstaking work in converting an existing machine through the addition of state of the art new equipment. The project has also been strongly supported by paper machinery supplier Metso, our new on-site coating filler supplier Omya, design engineering partners Beca Amec plus many local Tasmanian contractors and suppliers. In addition we have drawn upon Norske Skog’s global knowledge and expertise.
“This has been a real team effort across our entire business and literally hundreds of people have been involved in one way or another to make it a success. They can all be proud of their efforts,” Mr Leighton said.
The machine conversion involved the addition of new coating, drying and calendaring equipment, the installation of a new state-of-the-art winder as well as extensive building works, upgrades to existing equipment and process changes to ensure the final product meets the high quality specifications and printing performance demanded by the Australian market.
Norske Skog vice president Andrew McKean said the project had generated significant interest and support from local printers, publishers and retailers across Australia all of whom were keen to see the return of a local supplier. “Having locally produced LWC means our customers will benefit from shorter lead times which in turn means lower inventory, less delays and greater flexibility. They can also deal direct with people who operate in the same time zone and they can access support as required from our skilled technical support team," he said.
“Vantage is a great product in its own right and when combined with all the local benefits we believe it’s going to be a real winner”, Mr McKean said.

SOUTHERN FOOTBALL LEAGUE
ROUND 6 PREVIEWS
New Norfolk v East Coast
NEW Norfolk is back on its home ground tomorrow, and facing a real danger game against third-placed East Coast Bombers who will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat and take outright second position on the ladder.
The Eagles were impressive last weekend after a slow start to overrun Lindisfarne on their home ground, but their fade-out in the last term would be a worry for coach Jon Murray as they will need to be at their best for the full four quarters against the improving East Coast Bombers.
The previously undefeated Bombers were shock losers at home to Dodges Ferry and it appears when they sustain injuries they do not have the depth to cover their losses. They will be looking to put their best players on the park to test them against the powerful Eagles. The Bombers must move away from their normal game and really do their homework to nullify the four-pronged high-marking attack of the Eagles.
The Eagles always play their Boyer Oval well and coach Murray now has them taking the right options as they do not kick the ball long, hoping their forward would take the mark. They use spaces and move the ball quickly and take the best option. They also have huge depth at the club and with previous star players coming back through the reserves and injury they are now nearing their peak.
New Norfolk should record a solid win at home and it will be interesting to see the improvement in the East Coast Bombers and their ability to bounce back after their poor performance at home last weekend.
Hobart v Brighton
HOBART returns to its TCA home ground and a real opportunity to record its third win of the season whilst Brighton is buoyed by its own win last weekend and will attack this game full of confidence. In a game that could go either way perhaps Brighton’s key forwards may be the difference in what appears to be a close and low scoring affair.
Claremont v Lindisfarne
IN the game of the round with first playing fifth, as the undefeated Claremont is back at home to take on the improving Lindisfarne side in what appears to be a close affair that will determine how much the Magpies have improved so far this season. The Magpies must be at their best because the Lindisfarne side has the ability to steal the points otherwise.
Dodges Ferry v Cygnet
THE most improved side of the season, Dodges Ferry ventures back home and will be looking to continue its great start to the season when it hosts Cygnet which is languishing on the bottom of the ladder and yet to register a win so far this season. Cygnet will be competitive early in the game Dodges Ferry's class and power should see the Sharks record a comfortable victory and continue their good form whilst Cygnet must remain competitive for as long as they can.
Sorell v Huonville
IN what looks set to be an even contest all over the ground, Sorell move back to their home ground to take on the improving Huonville with both sides striving to win their second game of the season. In a game that should be close all day, the visiting Lions may have an edge which should see them record a narrow win away from home, but they must be at their best as Sorell always plays a lot better at home.

NEW Norfolk is back on its home ground tomorrow, and facing a real danger game against third-placed East Coast Bombers who will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat and take outright second position on the ladder.
The Eagles were impressive last weekend after a slow start to overrun Lindisfarne on their home ground, but their fade-out in the last term would be a worry for coach Jon Murray as they will need to be at their best for the full four quarters against the improving East Coast Bombers.
The previously undefeated Bombers were shock losers at home to Dodges Ferry and it appears when they sustain injuries they do not have the depth to cover their losses. They will be looking to put their best players on the park to test them against the powerful Eagles. The Bombers must move away from their normal game and really do their homework to nullify the four-pronged high-marking attack of the Eagles.
The Eagles always play their Boyer Oval well and coach Murray now has them taking the right options as they do not kick the ball long, hoping their forward would take the mark. They use spaces and move the ball quickly and take the best option. They also have huge depth at the club and with previous star players coming back through the reserves and injury they are now nearing their peak.
New Norfolk should record a solid win at home and it will be interesting to see the improvement in the East Coast Bombers and their ability to bounce back after their poor performance at home last weekend.
Hobart v Brighton
HOBART returns to its TCA home ground and a real opportunity to record its third win of the season whilst Brighton is buoyed by its own win last weekend and will attack this game full of confidence. In a game that could go either way perhaps Brighton’s key forwards may be the difference in what appears to be a close and low scoring affair.
Claremont v Lindisfarne
IN the game of the round with first playing fifth, as the undefeated Claremont is back at home to take on the improving Lindisfarne side in what appears to be a close affair that will determine how much the Magpies have improved so far this season. The Magpies must be at their best because the Lindisfarne side has the ability to steal the points otherwise.
Dodges Ferry v Cygnet
THE most improved side of the season, Dodges Ferry ventures back home and will be looking to continue its great start to the season when it hosts Cygnet which is languishing on the bottom of the ladder and yet to register a win so far this season. Cygnet will be competitive early in the game Dodges Ferry's class and power should see the Sharks record a comfortable victory and continue their good form whilst Cygnet must remain competitive for as long as they can.
Sorell v Huonville
IN what looks set to be an even contest all over the ground, Sorell move back to their home ground to take on the improving Huonville with both sides striving to win their second game of the season. In a game that should be close all day, the visiting Lions may have an edge which should see them record a narrow win away from home, but they must be at their best as Sorell always plays a lot better at home.

JUNIOR RESULTS
Under 6 Red was defeated by Metro but it was a good game all round.
Under 6 Black all played fantastically well, with goals scored by Hemi (3) and Vincent (1). Way to go boys!
Under 7 Red had a
great game at home against Holy Rosary. There were numerous goal scorers, including Tenesha who scored her very first soccer goal. Well done team.

ROUND 5 RESULTS

IN the game of the round, second-placed New Norfolk once again showed they are still the side to beat in the SFL. The Eagles eventually defeated a gallant Lindisfarne by 23 points in a high class affair, but their last-term fade-out will have disappointed coach Jon Murray and this is something the Eagles need to work on in coming weeks.
The Two Blues were determined to make a statement in the first term and really matched their more fancied rivals in a high class and very rugged affair. The Blues played a really defensive style of game and frustrated their opponents as they pushed the ball forward, quickly enabling them to grab a five point lead.
New Norfolk really showed its strength and class in the second term and whilst they only kicked four goals for the quarter they held the home side to only four points and they grabbed a handy 18-point lead in a low scoring affair. Once again when the game was in the balance the New Norfolk side rose to the occasion, kicking a further four goals to one in the third term to grab a match winning 39-lead at the last change.
The last term saw the Two Blues refuse to give up the chase and they certainly let the shackles go and played a more attacking style of football and this worked in the favour as they finished powerfully with seven goals to four, which will give great confidence to coach Goodwin that his team can match it with the best sides. They just need to be more consistent for four quarters.
Best players for the Eagles were Hall, Booth, Horne and Wilson with three goals whilst Gardam continued his consistent form with four goals. Best players for the Two Blues were Edmondson, Ford, Mitchell and Hutchinson as they continue to improve and remain fifth position on the ladder.

HUONVILLE relished being back on their home soil with a chance to win their first game this season and after a sluggish start they powered home to defeat a disappointing Hobart by 38 points.

CLAREMONT continued its unbeaten run and the long road trip down to Cygnet did not bother them as they thrashed a disappointing Cygnet by 106 points in a dominant display. The Port remain on the bottom of the ladder and the only side not to have won a game so far this season.
