New Norfolk 15.17 (107) defeated East Coast Bombers 10.9 (69)
SECOND-PLACED New Norfolk defeated an improving East Coast Bombers by 38 points in windy conditions at Boyer Oval on Saturday. The Eagles started well in the first term, not allowing the young East Coast Bombers into the game. New Norfolk dominated the contested possessions and gave its forwards first use of the ball as they kicked five goals to move to a 25-point lead at the first change and a big win appeared on the cards.

The second term saw the Bombers close up the game and play more accountable football, slowing down New Norfolk’s scoring ability. Both sides kicked only two goals each but the Eagles still had a handy 26-point lead and the Bombers were struggling to find avenues up forward.

The third term was a low-scoring affair and whilst the Bombers were matching the Eagles they had trouble hitting the scoreboard and seemed to run out of steam in the last term as the Eagles powered on six goals for another convincing and impressive victory which could have been a lot bigger except for inaccuracy in front of goals.  The Bombers are improving and staying in games longer with the top sides and they deserve their position of fourth on the ladder.

Best players for the Eagles were Clifford, Wilson and Horne whilst key forwards Gardham kicked four and Booth kicked three.  Best players for the Bombers were Fitze, Westall with five goals, Lyden and captain Perkins.

Brighton 15.18 (108) defeated Hobart 11.14 (80)
BRIGHTON continued its good form from the previous week when it defeated an improving Hobart at the TCA. The first term saw the Tigers kick five unanswered goals in a accurate display up forward and while Brighton was well in the contest however it was only able to kick eight behinds and trailed by 25 points at the first change.

Brighton responded after a blast from coach Ling and with the aid of a strong breeze kicked seven goals but also allowed the opposition to kick another two goals to hold on to an eight-point lead at the main change. The third quarter is where the young Robins won the game, holding the home side to only three goals whilst they were defending grimly and closing up the play. Hobart defended well in the last term but was overwhelmed by a fitter and better-drilled Brighton who piled on six goals to record a great victory and give them much some needed confidence and momentum.

Best players for the winners were Millhouse, Chapel, Walker (four goals) and Burgess (three goals). Best players for Hobart were Huxley who had a fine game with four goals along with Dykes and Clark while the Tigers are still chasing their third win of the season.

Claremont 11.12 (78) defeated Lindisfarne 10.9 (69)
IN possibly the game of the round, the undefeated Claremont was at home taking on the improving Lindisfarne and they had to pull out all a huge effort to record a fighting victory in the last term, eventually pulling away to win by nine points over a gallant and impressive Two Blues. Best players for Claremont were Butterworth, Grant, Spencer and Barwick whilst four players kicked two goals apiece in an even performance up forward.

Dodges Ferry 24.27 (171) defeated Cygnet 6.7 (43)
DODGES Ferry continued its great form with another dominant display, defeating a disappointing Cygnet by 128 points in a one-sided affair.

Huonville 12.9 (81) defeated Sorell 6.10 (46)
HUONVILLE recorded its second win of the season after a gutsy display away from home, defeating a gallant Sorell by 35 points in trying conditions at Pembroke Park.
