New Norfolk v East Coast
NEW Norfolk is back on its home ground tomorrow, and facing a real danger game against third-placed East Coast Bombers who will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat and take outright second position on the ladder.
The Eagles were impressive last weekend after a slow start to overrun Lindisfarne on their home ground, but their fade-out in the last term would be a worry for coach Jon Murray as they will need to be at their best for the full four quarters against the improving East Coast Bombers.
The previously undefeated Bombers were shock losers at home to Dodges Ferry and it appears when they sustain injuries they do not have the depth to cover their losses. They will be looking to put their best players on the park to test them against the powerful Eagles. The Bombers must move away from their normal game and really do their homework to nullify the four-pronged high-marking attack of the Eagles.
The Eagles always play their Boyer Oval well and coach Murray now has them taking the right options as they do not kick the ball long, hoping their forward would take the mark. They use spaces and move the ball quickly and take the best option. They also have huge depth at the club and with previous star players coming back through the reserves and injury they are now nearing their peak.
New Norfolk should record a solid win at home and it will be interesting to see the improvement in the East Coast Bombers and their ability to bounce back after their poor performance at home last weekend.
Hobart v Brighton
HOBART returns to its TCA home ground and a real opportunity to record its third win of the season whilst Brighton is buoyed by its own win last weekend and will attack this game full of confidence. In a game that could go either way perhaps Brighton’s key forwards may be the difference in what appears to be a close and low scoring affair.
Claremont v Lindisfarne
IN the game of the round with first playing fifth, as the undefeated Claremont is back at home to take on the improving Lindisfarne side in what appears to be a close affair that will determine how much the Magpies have improved so far this season. The Magpies must be at their best because the Lindisfarne side has the ability to steal the points otherwise.
Dodges Ferry v Cygnet
THE most improved side of the season, Dodges Ferry ventures back home and will be looking to continue its great start to the season when it hosts Cygnet which is languishing on the bottom of the ladder and yet to register a win so far this season. Cygnet will be competitive early in the game Dodges Ferry's class and power should see the Sharks record a comfortable victory and continue their good form whilst Cygnet must remain competitive for as long as they can.
Sorell v Huonville
IN what looks set to be an even contest all over the ground, Sorell move back to their home ground to take on the improving Huonville with both sides striving to win their second game of the season. In a game that should be close all day, the visiting Lions may have an edge which should see them record a narrow win away from home, but they must be at their best as Sorell always plays a lot better at home.
