Valiant Panthers downed

THE New Norfolk Panthers lost 4-1 in an away game against Barnstoneworth Golden Gordons on Sunday. Despite New Norfolk taking an early lead through a Josh Young strike, Barnstoneworth fought back to win the match.

The team gave an outstanding performance and hit the opposition crossbar three times but luck deserted them. New Norfolk was the better team for much of the game and looked the most dangerous side in the first half.

Injuries to some key players in the second half affected the flow of the side, but they still created scoring opportunities and showed glimpses of the skillful interplay evident in the first half. Tom Shepherd was outstanding in midfield and Alan Kalbfell produced an inspiring defensive display.

Owen Browning gave another solid performance in only his second stint as goalkeeper and Alyce Jordan produced her best game of the year at left wing. The next match is against Huon Valley at Huonville, at 2.30pm this Sunday 11.
