Spectacular fire in Circle Street

Smoke shrouded the tree after the fire was doused.
AN old pine tree outside the New Norfolk Courthouse went up in flames earlier tonight. The fire was reported at 8.52pm and three units from the New Norfolk Fire Brigade were soon on the scene, along with several police officers.

The fire leapt high into the night sky and sent up a massive plume of smoke. The flames and smoke cloud could be seen from the outskirts of New Norfolk. The size of the blaze was such that it was initially reported as a structure fire.
