Ellendale fire witness wanted

POLICE would like to hear from anyone with information about a fire that destroyed a carport and two cars at Ellendale last night. Detective Senior Constable Simon Vout said emergency services had been called to a fire at The Avenue, Ellendale, just before 11pm.

"The fire was contained at the time to two vehicles and the adjoining carport/garage that the vehicles were parked in.  The fire was extinguished without reaching the main structure of the house," Senior Constable Vout said.

"The damage to the two vehicles and garage is estimated to be $30,000. The house was occupied at the time, however, there were no injuries," he said.

"Investigations are being conducted by Glenorchy CIB in order to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area of The Avenue is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
