Mr Adams congratulated Peter and Elizabeth Hope on submitting for the funding, and noted the hard work the couple have put into Redlands Estate. “Congratulations to Peter and Elizabeth Hope on achieving this grant that will help to make the Derwent Valley a must-see destination for all of those who visit the state," Mr Adams said. "Peter and Elizabeth have put in countless hours and a lot of money to restore Redlands Estate. Without their tireless efforts, we would not be here today to celebrate this funding that will help to establish Redlands Estate Distillery."
Mr Adams said this part of the Derwent Valley was already known for its pristine beauty and tranquility. "The establishment of Redlands Estate Distillery will not only be able to show visitors the beauty and rich history of the area, but it will be able to showcase the ever growing name Tasmania is making for itself on the world stage of whisky distilling,” he said.
Future visitors to Redlands Estate Distillery will be able to trace the production of malt whisky from paddock to glass. The grant funding will see the establishment of a traditional malting floor as part of the whisky distilling process and the restoration of the historic buildings in the complex.
