Sorell v Central Hawks
SORELL recorded their third victory of the season with a hard-fought 37 point victory over the visiting Central Hawks at Pembroke Park last Saturday. The match began in typical fashion between both sides with players putting their bodies on the line and playing with high intensity. In a tight first term, it was the Hawks who surprised their more fancied rivals to claw their way to an eight point lead at the first change. Sorell lifted their work rate in the second term and through Williamson and Parker started to use the ball more effectively, getting their running game going to score five goals. But the Hawks were not to be denied and dug in for the fight and through Horne and Daly kept themselves well and truly in the game with two majors themselves to only trail by 12 points at the long break.

After the break, Sorell did their best to kick away from their rivals, but the gritty Hawks would not lie down and a four goal to two term had the Eagles holding a handy 22 point lead heading into the vital final quarter, with the Hawks still considering themselves a chance to snatch a victory. However, it was not to be, and Sorell managed to hold the ascendancy and steadied to keep their noses in front to kick four last quarter goals to the Hawks' three to record a gallant 37 point victory over a determined and committed Hawks team in front of their home crowd. Better players for the Eagles included Williamson, Kane, Parker and Hitchens while Reimers with three goals was impressive. For the Hawks who are still chasing that first elusive victory for the 2012 season, Horne, Jones, Daly and Ladic all kept their side in the contest while the Daly brothers with two goals each were dangerous and Horne (two goals) capped of an excellent best on ground performance for his side.

THE Huonville Lions recorded a big percentage-boosting win over the East Coast Bombers at Huonville Oval.

Lindisfarne v Cygnet
THE match of the round between Lindisfarne and Cygnet at Anzac Park turned into a fizzer with the Blues dismantling the Cygnet side after half time in a very one sided affair.
